Iberpapel Group registers a project that will absorb 800,000 tonnes of carbon over the next 50 years

The Iberpapel Group has restored over 4,500 hectares of degraded land in Uruguay
since 2004, using a practice called silvopasture.

This project, which was validated at the
start of 2012 by Rainforest Alliance under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), will
offset over 800,000 tonnes of carbon, thanks to the sale of the carbon offsets on the
voluntary carbon markets.

At present, the Iberpapel Group has over 25,000 hectares of forest plantations in
southern Spain, Argentina and Uruguay. A portion of this land mass has been afforested
thanks to the Iberpapel Silvopastural System on Degraded Land project, which has been
using the silvopasture practice to restore degraded land since 2004. Under this model,
apt land is planted with Eucaliptus Globulus.
