{"id":19822,"date":"2013-02-19T18:31:06","date_gmt":"2013-02-19T17:31:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iberpapel.ciset.net\/en\/?p=19822"},"modified":"2021-06-14T18:35:44","modified_gmt":"2021-06-14T16:35:44","slug":"iberpapel-group-registers-a-project-that-will-absorb-800000-tonnes-of-carbon-over-the-next-50-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iberpapel.es\/en\/iberpapel-group-registers-a-project-that-will-absorb-800000-tonnes-of-carbon-over-the-next-50-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Iberpapel Group registers a project that will absorb 800,000 tonnes  of carbon over the next 50 years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Iberpapel Group has restored over 4,500 hectares of degraded land in Uruguay<br \/>\nsince 2004, using a practice called silvopasture. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This project, which was validated at the<br \/>\nstart of 2012 by Rainforest Alliance under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), will<br \/>\noffset over 800,000 tonnes of carbon, thanks to the sale of the carbon offsets on the<br \/>\nvoluntary carbon markets.<\/p>\n<p>At present, the Iberpapel Group has over 25,000 hectares of forest plantations in<br \/>\nsouthern Spain, Argentina and Uruguay. A portion of this land mass has been afforested<br \/>\nthanks to the Iberpapel Silvopastural System on Degraded Land project, which has been<br \/>\nusing the silvopasture practice to restore degraded land since 2004.
